Michael Fegan, CEO
Following the completion of an Honours Degree in 1979 in Naval Architecture at the University of Strathclyde in Glasgow, Scotland, Michael Fegan joined a leading classification society as a trainee surveyor, and over the following 20+ years served in United Kingdom, Japan, Bulgaria, Malta, United Arab Emirates and Bahrain as a ship and engineer surveyor, attaining principal surveyor status.
Michael then joined an Eastern Canadian shipping company managing a fleet of offshore supply vessels, where he worked as a Project Manager responsible for the conversion of a Polish-built offshore supply vessel to the latest class and Canadian flag authority rules and regulations for operation in the Canadian offshore sector.
Further experience was gained when he managed a marine consultancy with several surveying staff members reporting to him followed on from this position, where exposure to a diversity of small vessel survey work in areas such as the local fishing fleet, insurance related damage hull and machinery surveys, extensive marine diesel engine surveys, various flag authority inspections, cargo surveys and P&I Club representation/responsibilities.
Michael currently owns and operates a successful marine consultancy business under the name Fulcrum Marine Consultancy Ltd. from his base in Head of St. Margaret’s Bay NS, where he continues to flourish in providing expertise in various fields of marine surveys. He lives there with the long suffering love of his life, Bernadette, on the idyllic south shore of Nova Scotia where they enjoy the many aspects together of outdoor life in Canada.
